Review
Wow! I
had this on my TBR list for a little bit before I got to read it and my only
regret was that I didn’t read it sooner! It was spectacular! For those that
enjoy YA reads, you do NOT want to miss this one!
Right off
the bat, you connect with the characters. You go back to the days of high
school when you were absolutely giddy over boys and giggled ridiculously about
them. But then the book progresses and your heart hurts for Ruby. You want to
be happy with her and for her, but your heart just hurts for what she is
enduring at home.
There
were so many issues throughout this book that Ruby had to overcome. At times, I
really wanted to shake her and tell her to just open up. Let Lexi & Brent
in on what was going on in her life! But
she didn’t and I kind of understand why she didn’t. Teenagers aren’t known for
making the ‘right’ choice, so it was definitely realistic. That fact right
there really worked well for this story – the author didn’t make the characters
make the best or the right choice every time. It was true to the age group of
the characters.
I’m not
going to lie, I definitely cried during this one! But I laughed, too. I might
have also held my breath at times. And at the end, I was all put back together.
The writing was smooth and held a very conversational tone. I appreciated how
well the story was written andI stayed up WAY later than I typically do just so
I could finish this story!
