Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox

Recent college graduate, Kayla Reynolds was ready to leave the university, sorority life behind. Leaving her boyfriend of over three years, she packed her bags and moved four hours south to the big city…New York City.  Bright lights, streets that never sleep, and a business lifestyle that she yearned to have were all at her fingertips.

Kayla Reynolds was chasing her dream.

Determined and eager to make it in the corporate world, Kayla changed everything- her image, lifestyle, and outlook on life, putting her career first and her personal life second. That was until her first day, the first time she got a glimpse of Miles Blackwell. Corporate CEO and part owner of ETV, and not to mention, incredibly handsome, Miles Blackwell took Kayla by surprise, stealing her heart as he did.

But nothing had ever come that easy for Kayla. Life had always seemed to have a personal vendetta against her, stepping in when everything seemed too good to be true, reminding herself of whom she really was. It wasn’t until she met Merrick Drake that she realized when to stop; when running was no longer an option. For the first time in her life she had someone she could relate to; someone who wouldn’t judge- who saw the person she was inside. She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

When life was too much to handle, they ran.

But there was only one person that could make Kayla stop for good. Only one man that made her want to stay.

Would Kayla finally stop running or would it all be too much to handle?

Review
I’ve been following this series since book 1, so I was very eager to read this story! I was ready to see what made Kayla tick and what Ms. Wilcox had in store for her. I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put the book down until I was done! Of course, silly things like life & work got in the way, but that didn’t stop me. I found myself reading any chance I got.

Kayla is a very complex girl. On the surface, she appears to be your typical recent college grad that expects the world to be handed to her. But she is so much more than that. Her life hasn’t been easy, so she has overcome a lot in her short life. Kayla is the type that has overcome a lot of obstacles and it seems that they just keep coming her way.

Then there is Merrick and he is sweet, dreamy, and all kinds off limits. The making of a perfect guy, for sure. I wanted to punch him several times for getting bossy with her, but then he’d be so sweet and perfect that I had to refrain.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story! Like I said, right from the beginning, I was sucked in and didn’t want to put it down. I cannot wait to see what Ashley Wilcox has in store for us next!

About the Author

Some may consider me a jack of all trades, but I consider myself well rounded.I’ve waitressed, styled hair, answered phones and, most recently, worked full time as mom to my two beautiful little boys.Then there was this book Everyone and their brother started talking about this book series titled Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James. I didn’t really pay attention to the craze at first, since I wasn’t a big reader- okay, I didn’t read at all. But curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded it to my kindle.I was immediately hooked. I read the whole series in three days. Yes, three books in three days.I kept finding all these great books that I HAD to read (just ask my credit card!).Then I started hearing voices. Voices that turned into stories; stories that were begging to get out of my head.I started writing them down on scraps of paper. Then I transferred them to my computer. Before I knew it, Planning on Forever was born.The voices in my head are still talking, so Im still writing.

Excerpt
Kieran

I advanced on her, inched closer, until she was leaning against her car. I slowly grabbed a fistful of her silky strands ofhair and she turned her gaze on me. She bit her lip and that action just undid me. “I’ll be there for breakfast tomorrow. But right now, I think I need something else.”
Her breath hitched and her bottom lip started quivering slightly. She was nervous. If Brynn played poker, this would be her tell. “What do you need?”
“I need a kiss to go,” I said quickly before I covered her mouth with mine. God, she tasted good. She tasted minty, fresh, and all woman. Her vanilla scent assailed me.
For weeks, I’ve been wondering what she tasted like. Every time she took a sip of that hot cocoa that she liked so much, I found myself wanting to be the lid of the cup. When she smiled and lowered her eyelashes, it hit me straight in the gut, and there were numerous times that I went home and became very friendly with my fists. We didn’t talk during the day, and when she was off work, I wanted her to make the first move and ask about hanging out with me. She never did. She spent a lot of time with her brother, and I didn’t want to impose on their time. Plus, Milo and I didn’t get along. So, I waited for her to make the first step. I still had a difficult time accepting the fact that she was Milo’s sister, but her presence made me forget that she was. I knew I would have to deal with the fact that she was his sister, and one day, if we became something more, I’d have no choice but to let him know about us. Just for now, though, I wanted to feel her lips against mine. She licked her lips that were oh-so-soft and I wanted more. I didn’t just want a kiss to go. I wanted to kiss her in a way that she would ask me to stay.
“What are we doing Kieran?” she asked huskily, slightlypulling away.
I pressed my mouth against hers and ran my tongue over her bottom lip. “We’re meeting up for breakfast.”

"

* REVIEW *

Beautiful Chances is a beautiful love story!  Lily lost her family almost three years ago and has spent that time keeping to herself on a beach.  She had no plans on making more friends, giving away her dark secrets or falling in love.  That was until Kyle Madison came along and swept her off of her feet (literally).  The two of them together are an amazing combination.  Kyle is a dream guy.  He's hot, romantic, sweet and as Lily calls him, alpha!  Lily is great because she trusted him enough to try to move on from her past. Lily has a lot of work to do but grew so much throughout this story.  I fell in love with these characters and felt so connected to them.  This isn't a wild or exciting story, but one of self reflection and trust.

"I don't want to care about anyone...then I never have to experience losing someone."

This story just wet my appetite for Kyle and Lily.  I became very attached and invested in them.  I have many unanswered questions that I cannot wait for.  I'm hoping book 2 will touch on these.  I think there is much more to Kyle than we see in this story.  I want to get into his head.  I want to know about the mysterious notes and texts that Lily is getting.  I want to know what Lily decides to do with Kyle's offer!  If you are looking for a gorgeous romance with some steamy sex scenes and touching moments, this book is for you!  We are left hanging just a little at the end, but it keeps me wanting more.  These two will stick with me for awhile, I am sure of it!

REVIEW: Picturing Perfect by Melissa Brown

This was a very sweet and endearing story. Right away you connect with the characters and understand where Hadley is struggling. Do you stay with what is comfortable because it is what you know and you’ve already had so much upset in your life? Especially when you know that what is going on with family members is so much of a strain. It is just *easier* to stay with what you know rather than moving on to the unknown.

Then there is Jason. And he is perfect. And he is sweet. And he is motivated (even when it doesn’t look like it at first). And he is great. So why WOULDN’T you want to jump in to something with him? Though, despite his perfection, one wrong move with him could impact every other stable relationship Hadley had.

I understood WHY Hadley was apprehensive about a relationship with him. I got it. I didn’t really agree with her, but I understood her. I also wanted to punch Tucker in his face… as well as his mother. What crappy people for her to have to be potentially connected to for a very long time. As the story progresses, you want to shake Hadley and make her open her eyes, kill Tucker, and fall in love with Jason!

If you are looking for a story that is truly unique and not your typical romance, this is it! You will absolutely love it! The style of writing is very smooth and very captivating! Fabulous job, Melissa Brown! I can’t wait to read more from you!

Review
I LOVED this story. I started it and I couldn’t put it down! While I enjoyed the first in this series, there was something about this specific book that I just loved and couldn’t tear myself away from it. Kate McCarthy had a way with this story that just drew me in right from the beginning. Instantly, I was softened towards Quinn and wanted to be her biggest cheerleader. Likewise, I was instantly drawn to Travis and he could’ve had me at any time!

The writing throughout this story is fabulous. It keeps your attention and your focus without being overly dramatic. There was enough variation throughout the story that you couldn’t really predict what the next move would be. That Jamieson crew is something else… a something else that anyone would be lucky to be a part of. While there is a slight variation in ‘language’ due to the author being Australian, it wasn’t so much that it was confusing or hindered the story at all!

This was a definite 5-star read for me!

Blog Tour and Review: The Other C-Word by MK Schiller

* COVER *

* SYNOPSIS *

Marley Mason is dreading the arrival of the new business consultant. After all, this man will most likely outsource her job to China. The last thing she would expect is a case of mistaken identity, leading to false accusations of kidnapping when she attempts to pick up the wrong man at the airport, or worse…that she would have such a visceral reaction to the right man.

Rick Randy is super sexy, scandalously flirty and perfect masturbation material, but a relationship is out of the question. Rick is contracted on a temporary basis to fix Marley’s ailing company, then pull out, although as he expresses to Marley, pulling out is difficult for him, in more ways than one! Marley’s feelings range from utter confusion to intense contemplation as Rick charms his way into her life. All of those C-words Marley can control, but it’s the other C-word she fears—commitment.

* REVIEW *

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Other C-Word by MK Schiller.  So many parts of the story were unique, quirky and hilarious!  Marley and Rick have all the sexual tension and roadblocks that made the buildup of their love affair that much sweeter!  I liked that MK Schiller took her time and made us fall in love with each of these characters both separately and together.  For a story with many serious topics, there were plenty of funny moments and innuendos.  Most of those times happened to be with Marley's mom and sisters.  They were so important to each other and it showed, especially during their 'dish' sessions.

I'm convinced Rick Randy is an enigma.  There really can't be a man that perfect...right?!  He did everything right and made me sigh most of the time I was reading!  Rick took chances and knew what he wanted.  Once this happened he was smooth and funny.  Cellphone gate was Rick's way of letting Marley know the ball was in her court.  (Sorry, not gonna elaborate...must read it ;) )

Some of the time, Marley broke my heart. She worried so much about everyone else and put herself last.  She really grew throughout the story and I found myself proud of her by the end.  I loved how things played out and enjoyed reading a stand alone book!  I highly recommend this book to everyone!  It's funny, romantic, heartwarming, touching and unique.  I will definitely be looking out for more from MK Schiller!

* ABOUT THE AUTHOR *

  This is my debut novel, and I’m thrilled to share it with you.  I describe myself as a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. By day, I don a magic cape, calculator (sometimes an abacus), and an assortment of gel pens for my work in the world of finance. But by night, I sit by the warm glow of my computer monitor, and think of stories that will warm the heart, and cheer the soul.
There is nothing better than the intimate journey and ultimate satisfaction that only a swoon-worthy romance can provide, especially if there are a few laughs along the way.  Although writing is my passion, I am a reader first and enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book and some tasty Italian (the food, of course!). I hope you will enjoy my work and please drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.

* EXCERPT *

“I want to kiss you again. I don’t want to wait on that.” He barely had the car in park before he placed his hands on either side of my face and drew me close to him. His lips felt like velvety pillows. The kiss was softer, slower, but no less passionate than our first kiss. He coaxed his way into my mouth. He explored with a profound depth while he caressed my face and neck with his fingertips. He worked his way down my jawline to my neck, punctuating each progression with soft, wet kisses. He pulled away, but continued stroking my hair with his fingers, staring at me intently. The sounds of our rapid breathing permeated the air. “Don’t masturbate.” The words were the most shocking I’d ever heard.
My hand shot up and struck his face in a hasty reaction to the command. I slapped Rick. I didn’t slap him for the kiss. I loved the kiss. I smacked him for telling me not to masturbate. Surely, he wasn’t taking away my only form of relief.
He rubbed his check and I immediately felt guilty. “I can’t believe you slapped me. Are you into some S&M shit I need to know about?”
“No…sorry, but are you fucking crazy? First you tell me we have to wait until the results, then you kiss me like that and now you’re saying don’t masturbate?”
He grinned impishly and pulled me towards him again. “I won’t either. When I finally fuck you, it’ll be worth it. It will make everything so much more…epic. Do you know what I mean?”
“No,” I replied, pouting.

Review
When it comes to new authors, I’m always a little bit leery. I used to be super excited and then… well… Anyway, I went in to this novel on edge. I was quite impressed!

The story isn’t fast and furious, instead there is a slow build up to the romance. But once those 2 get their heads on straight and figure themselves out, it is very sweet. The author did a great job building up each of the characters. I felt like if Lilly had just TALKED to Colton about different things, they could’ve saved themselves some of the confusion and heartbreak.

There is a lot of inner dialogue throughout the story, so you truly understand where Lilly is and why she is making some of the choices she is making. I really enjoyed that part of the story!

I’m definitely looking forward to reading more by Bayli Lane in the future! She has a lot of potential to be on my list of “automatically 1-click” authors in the future!
