Family.
I have tattooed that single word on more skin than I care to count. It elicits powerful thoughts and emotions for most people.
Loving. Caring.
Supportive. Togetherness.
Forever.
But not for me. The word family means so much more.
Vicious. Harmful.
Dangerous. Corrupt.
Deadly.
You can’t run forever from the ones who love you.

Review
I love Nicole Reed. This is NO secret. I have yet to be disappointed by
her work. I have read the Ruined series more than once. They left me
emotionally wrecked in the best way possible. She has a way of writing that is
so real and so raw that you feel as if you are a part of the story. Your chest
aches as if it were experiencing what the characters are experiencing. When I
was offered the chance to review this story, I said “YES!” without hesitation.
I dropped another book to read this one. I was not disappointed.
This is by far the best yet from Nicole Reed. I couldn’t stop reading
once I started! There were so many parts I read that I was thinking, “no, no,
no. Please don’t let them do that…” only to read down a line and see that
Keller was saying the same thing. Again, Ms Reed was able to draw me in
instantly, captivate my attention, and make me feel a part of this story. Right
away I was nervous about Vin and loved Holden. I found that I really grew to
care about Vin, but remained cautious. And Holden. I think that my heart broke
for him as much as it broke for Keller.
There was so much I hated about some of those characters. I hated how
they were so controlling. I hated the mind games they played. Don’t get me
started on Sage & Ward. I hated their manipulation of both Keller &
Holden. I hated them because it was so real. Gangs of any sort are no joke and
the way they handled it was just so real. But I had a soft spot for Badger and
Diamond.
To say this book left me with a hangover is a gross understatement. This
book is going to stay with me for a very long time. Keller, Vin, & Holden
have left such an impact on me that it’s going to take a lot to measure up to
this one.
