Synopsis
In comes Jake Parker, the twenty-five year old lead singer of Battlescars. His reputation is the untamable bad-boy. He’s completely “balls to the wall” in everything that he does. Two days after returning home from a month long tour across Europe he gets a visit from Bruce, an executive from the record label. He informs Jake that Battlescars is going back on tour for three months. What everyone doesn’t know is that Jake is worn down and sick of the same old shit.
His record label hires Aubrey’s dads company to fly him around for the last minute tour. In order to keep her dad's company afloat they will have to learn to play nice. When Jake first meets Aubrey she refuses to even acknowledge his existence. He sees her as refreshing and a challenge.
Both of them have some pretty heavy scars from their pasts holding them back. Can Jake get Aubrey to let him in? Or will she shoot him down based on his outlandish reputation? Will her fear of getting hurt again keep him out for good?
Are the two of them a match in heaven or hell?

Review
Ah – I love a good rockstar book! I especially love rockstar
romance that involves a gritty past. Sophie Monroe did a fabulous job of
bringing a fresh storyline to this style of book! The tone of the book, while
dealing with some intense topics, was definitely laid back and conversational.
Right off the bat, you feel connected to the characters and it feels as if you
are right there with them.
I loved Jake! He didn’t hold back at all. He saw what he
wanted and he went for it. He challenged Aubrey in a great way. He understood
what she needed from him and gave it to her, but he didn’t move away from his
goal. He was her rock whenever she needed it, despite her attempts to push him
away. Jake wasn’t without his own
issues, though. He just used his issues to strengthen him and guide him. While
many stories let the issues from the past drive the characters to be scared of
relationships, this one does the opposite. On top of his bad-boy, tattooed,
rocker image – Jake is a sweet, caring, and crazy romantic!
Aubrey. Wow. She is a firey little thing! I LOVED her
sassiness and her sarcasm throughout the story. However, I also loved how
broken she was at times. She was scared & vulnerable throughout much of the
book, but it didn’t hinder her. She was one of a kind, that is for sure! Aubrey’s
been through some crazy and intense things in her life, but her support system
was amazing. While Jake’s past built him up, Aubrey’s past held her back at
times. It was interesting to watch her grow and shift.
While this book is definitely a romance, there is a lot more
to it! There is a decent level of mystery to keep you interested, as well. It
is never a good thing when those from the past begin to show up and bad things
start happening…

Interview
What inspired you
to write Battlescars?
I wanted to write
a rocker book that was different from the other ones in its category. I
have a serious
love of rock and all things related to it so I just wanted to create my own
little version of it and I really hope that I accomplished that.
What is the one
thing Aubrey would never leave home without?
Probably Bella or
her iPod.
What is one thing
Jake would never leave home without?
If he had his
choice probably Aubrey, lol.
5 words to
describe the relationship between Aubrey & Jake.
Balls to the
motherf’n wall! Seriously though, strong, resilient, passionate, entertaining,
real.
Is this going to
be a series? If so, how many books do we get?
I’m not sure yet.
I’m currently working away on Afflicted, which is the spin off of Blake and Piper
and so far it’s EPIC! I don’t know if I’ll do one for the other characters at
this point, but maybe Granny deserves her own book or at least one filled with
words of Granny wisdom, haha!

Hot or Cold: Hot

About the Author
Sophie Monroe is a
New Jersey native just starting out her writing adventure. She has
always been a
night owl with a creative side. Her books often reflect both her sense of humor
and sarcasm.
She tries to
communicate on the fact that "life's too short" in her stories. Bad
things happen in life it's inevitable, but pick yourself up and dust yourself
off and move forward. Nothing can hold you down, unless you choose to let it.
She also loves to
incorporate meaningful quotes that she hopes will inspire her readers (or at
least give them a good laugh.)
