Excerpt
Our faces were so close at this point that our noses slightly brushing against one another when either of us moved. Matthew slowly raised his hand and brushed the back of it across my cheek as we stared into each other’s eyes. Closing my eyes I let out a long, slow sigh. This was my Matthew…the loving boy I used to know. If only time could be rewound and things could take place differently. I was lost in thought when I felt Matthew’s damp lips press against mine. Shock raced through my mind as I let out a gasp. My eyes flew open in response as I found myself slightly pushing back from him. Then I watched Matthew shut down. Hurt followed by anger flashed across his face faster than I could count to three. He was back on his feet shaking his head violently back and forth. “No…No … NO!!!! I KNEW IT!!!” he yelled louder and louder. “Matthew, wait…” I reached for him as I tried to stand but the coldness in his eyes froze me where I sat.

Blog Tour: Review & Giveaway: Touched by You by T.H. Snyder

Chloe and Derrick have spent most of their lives together as friends and as lovers; they have formed a connection that few couples can make last. This duo is bound by one thing that no one can destroy. They have been touched by one another and no one can take that away.
That is until one of them is forced to make a decision and their lives take on a different path.
Can these two withstand the reality of what lies ahead? Are they able to hold a relationship together with just the mere fact that they may love each other? Is it possible to maintain a bond that no one else has been able to touch?
Chloe and Derrick may have the relationship others dream about, but sometimes things do get in the way and it can be impossible to forgive and forget.

Review
I have read this book several times through and have loved it more each time. I mentioned this in the Touch Me review but T.H. Snyder is an awesome writer of dual POVS. I loved reading the back story of Chloe and Derrick’s relationship, how they got to where they were in Touch Me and how things changed beyond that. I was really happy to see the other members of the family return and get to know them from a different point of view. There is also a new face in the crowd who we meet and will get to know better in the 3rd book of this series.

There were plenty of times I wanted to yell at Chloe, she really hit the most awesomest guy jackpot and nearly screwed it up numerous times.

Derrick is so extremely understanding of Chloe’s choices and completely in love with Chloe. He really is the perfect guy.  There were a few times I was hoping for a one ending or another but ultimately the way T.H. Snyder ended it was perfect.

Run and grab this one! And while you’re at it grab Touch Me as well. They could be read as stand alones since they feature different main characters but to fully understand everything it is best to read them as a series. Keep an eye out for Touched by Another, the final book in the series, later this year.

Review
For a debut novel, I was quite impressed with this one! I instantly connected with the characters and could feel what they were going through. I understood why Jesika was so hesitant and I truly admired how persistent Derek was in his pursuit of her! No fairy tale is complete by having life go completely how we want it to and Jesika and Derek were no exception. They had many obstacles to overcome initially followed by many twists and turns throughout the story.

Erika Ashby did a fabulous job with maintaining the integrity of her story while expanding on many different aspects of it. The writing captured my attention right away and kept it until the very last word. As I finished their story, I found that I could not wait until the next one would be released! The characters have captured my attention and kept me wanting more!

No Going Back (Timing is Everything #2)
Synopsis
Life isn’t always about fairytales and happily ever-after’s according to Seth Jordan. After having his world shattered and heartbroken beyond repair, he had always sworn off the idea of love. He was perfectly content with continuing his life with worthless one night stands and no strings attached sex. That was until one blue-eyed blonde managed to seep into places he thought were cemented shut.
Like a jack hammer, Mallory Prentice came into Seth’s life and cracked the hard exterior that surrounded his heart. She’s the one woman he was starting to feel might be worth taking a chance on.
But life doesn't always hand you the easy road. Sometimes you are constantly hit with the bad and have no hope of any good ever showing up.
Will Seth and Mallory realize that ultimately they are the ones who are in control of their life’s outcome? Will they embrace the future and fight for their own happiness, or will they keep lingering in past mistakes and let it keep them apart?
Life is all about forgiveness and second chances. Once you come to that conclusion and just go for it, there is…no going back.

In the End (Timing is Everything #3)
Synopsis
*Novella-Prequel to Moving Forward*
Jake Reynolds’ life had always been perfectly mapped out for him as he was growing up. The only time he ever felt like he had any control over it was when he was inside the cage—the same cage that held no for sure outcome. In his twisted mind being inside that ring with his opponent was the most freeing feeling. In that moment alone he was able to let his perfected guard down and be who he wanted to be.
From the outside looking in, everything about Jake’s life looked perfect, but he knew that he wasn’t. His whole life had been set up for him before he was even born, and even though it’s not the life he wanted, he continued living it.
When you have everything you could ever want at your fingertips, why screw it up?
That was his mindset until the night Jesika showed up at his fight. He knew she was different from the get-go. He also knew he didn’t deserve her, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to try. Jake had skills inside and out of the cage and he was known to always get what he wanted no matter the risk. But was he willing to change who he had always been in order to keep the one that he thought was worth the fight? Will it all be worth it in the end?

Excerpts
~Moving Forward Excerpt~
My heart is pounding like it’s going to burst out of my chest. This woman has no freaking clue what she does to me. Gah, or how good she feels. It’s far better than I could have ever dreamt. This goes above and beyond getting laid, and getting mine. This is all about giving. They say giving is better than receiving and in this case, trying to show her without words how much I love her, it is. I can sense through the way her body responds to mine, the look in her eyes, and by the few words that have been spoken, that she’s trying to show me that she feels exactly what I do. This first time experience between us is filled with pure need. We are able to show each other things we feel with something as simple as touch. I want to take her over the edge again, but I know I’m not going to last much longer because everything I’m feeling right now isn’t going to let me drag it out.
~No Going Back Excerpt~
“You know, spitters aren’t quitters, Mallory.” Seth says in a serious tone as he pulls his face away from mine. “Okay,” I slowly drawl out, not sure where he’s going with this. “As long as you keep the lid on the juicer, you’re a winner in my book.” “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I ask. He shrugs as his mouth starts to turn into that sly smile of his that I fine absolutely irresistible. “You know, you don’t jump ship before it’s even docked. You keep the lava contained while it’s erupting.” The he sighs. “As long as you let me nut in your mouth, I don’t care what you do with the contents.” I laugh. “Well, that’s good to know, but for a reason that I’m now sure you’re aware of, I’m still gonna taste your residual nut juice in my mouth whether I spit it or down it.”
~In The End Excerpt~
It wasn’t supposed to happen this way. I wasn’t supposed to wake up in the bed next to another woman…her of all people. I’m all too familiar with the likes of her kind and it isn’t just because we use to be fuck buddies…back when I was into snorting shit up my nose. Times when I’d rather be high than deal with reality. Before I ever found my true passion and release—the one that came from being in the ring. “Get the fuck out of my bed!” I yell as I scurry to find my boxers through the slew of clothes thrown everywhere. Fuck. I really fucking did it. The old me showed his fucking ass last night, and I have no damn recollection of it at all. Fucking brilliant.   Book Trailers Direct Link: http://www.youtube.com/embed/JIm7CxnN0co Direct Link: http://www.youtube.com/embed/OiRIQumG0KM Direct Link: www.youtube.com/embed/HzdEcuzMVp0

ROCK STAR? RECOVERING ADDICT? MURDERER?

Yeah, they all hold true.

How can you explain to someone what it's like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I've lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.

I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A HEART.

Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.

It's still there.

HOLLOW. EMPTY. WASTED.

My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.

Review
WOW. We met Rhye in Ruining Me & Ruining You, but let me tell you, it is just the smallest of glimpse of who he really is. We see him as the cool guy, musician. There is so much more to Rhye Clark than we originally knew.
During different parts, you simultaneously want to punch him in the face and cry for him. He is strong, but he is so weak at the same time. You can’t help but hate & love him for some of the choices he makes. He’s just a totally different guy than what I expected him to be. His issues are real and they are deep. When you think of a typical addict, you think that they are shallow and selfish, but he is just the opposite. He’s got a life full of tragedy that he carries around. But with Syn, he slowly starts to change.

And Syn. Ah. She is so sweet and amazing. Like Rhye, there are times that you simultaneously want to shake her while you cheer her on. She’s also faced some real tragedy in her life, but her methods of coping were far more appropriate than Rhye’s choices. She is so sweet and innocent, but she isn’t really naïve.

On top of these 2 amazing main characters, the supporting group is amazing. They have so many great areas and I really enjoyed seeing the parts they played in the lives of Syd & Rhye.

Blog Tour: Review & Trailer: Running in Place by L.B. Simmons

Tatum O’Connell:

Some call me a party girl. People see me as happy, full of life, with absolutely no cares in the world. They see what I want them to see. But no one knows me – really knows me. Not even Noah Reese.  Mr. Perfect is always watching me, most likely judging every single imperfect thing I do. But, if Noah wants to keep an eye on me, that’s just fine. I definitely don’t mind. I just hope he doesn’t have any plans to save me from my new-found life of self-destruction because in order to save me, he will have to see me…

And I’m never going to let that happen.

Noah Reese:

Perfect. That’s me. That’s the only acceptable way to be, according to my father. Perfect grades. Perfect manners. Perfect athlete. Perfect SAT scores. Perfect college. And recently, I was accepted into the perfect med school. My future has already been mapped out for me and there’s nothing that can change that. Not even Tatum O’Connell. That girl is out of control, yet for some reason, I can’t seem to keep my distance from her. I watch her closely, hoping that one day she’ll let me in, but watching her lead her life down the dangerous path she’s on right now isn’t easy…

I have a feeling I’m about to find myself swept away by the hurricane that is Tatum O’Connell.

“Two fleeting souls,
Unknowingly tethered.
Too slowly drawn,
Impatient fate calls.
The jolting collide intertwines their lives
And splinters their walls.”
“Catalyst” – Noah Reese

Review
Wow. Just wow. I absolutely adored “Running on Empty” and “Recovery” by L.B. Simmons and I loved the teasers for this one, so I wasn’t really worried that I WOULDN’T enjoy this. I just wasn’t prepared for how much I’d just absolutely freaking LOVE it. You start off with knowing that Tatum is not just broken, but completely shattered. You know that Noah is amazing, but what you don’t realize initially is that he is just as shattered as she is. You’ve got 2 characters that are so shattered that you aren’t sure they can be repaired, much less repair each other.

The writing is flawless, as usual. From the very first sentence, you are sucked in to this story. You want to jump in there and take care of Tatum and make out with Noah. Whatever, I’d totally do a lot of naughty things with Noah. He’s just amazing. Tatum, gosh, I want to hold her and repair the damage that was done. L.B. Simmons did an amazing job with creating this girl and really letting not only her brokenness shine, but also her strength. You know right away that she has it in her, but that she really has a ways to go before she realizes it.

I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about this story or this series as a whole. Each character in this series as a whole is so unique and has their own set of strengths as well as their own flaws. We get a glimpse in to Harlow & Trace a little bit more and I really just can’t wait for their story! And here I am, more than a week after finishing the story, finding myself still reeling from it and contemplating how soon is too soon to read it again!

Release Day: Excerpt & Giveaway: Greed by Fisher Amelie

Gather ‘round, love, because I want you. I want what you have, I want what you don’t have, I want more of what I already have. I want. But if you so much as ask for something in return, go ahead and walk away. Know if you want to play in my world, it’s every man for themselves and the weak become mine. Leeches will be obliterated because I make it my job to destroy them. I protect what’s mine and I take what’s yours...because that’s what I do. I want.

My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.

I’m Spencer Blackwell...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Excerpt

Prologue

Greed is a strange, strange sin.

All you want to do is acquire. Acquire money, acquire material, acquire time, acquire energy, acquire attention. The running mantra is “I want, I want, I want” but that quickly turns to “I need, I need, I need.”Suddenly there just isnt enough time for friends, for family, for anyone. Your goal is to acquire and to make sure what you acquire stays acquired. Your life depends on it. You don’t see truth because the truth is shadowed by enormous homes, incredibly fast cars, in lavish spending. Your life no longer belongs to you, but you are blind to it all because those around you are seeking the same.

So you shuffle along at an impossible rate, and you pass the real world around you.

But what you’ll come to realize, altogether too late, is that it’s never enough. It’s simply never enough.

Chapter One

“It’s confirmed. Peter Knight of Evergreen won’t approve the acquisition. You know what to do,” my snake of a father told me, not two steps into his front door.

“I just got off a seven-hour flight. You can’t let me settle in? Possibly say hello?”

He stood, watching me, a slight tick in his square jaw. He tucked his hands into his Italian silk pants. His six-foot frame followed the steps up to the foyer and stopped a few inches away from my own. We were face to face. Although I fell an inch shorter, he no longer intimidated me. I knew if I had to, I could kick his ass.

“Hello, Spencer,” he said, a serpent’s smile spread wide across his mouth before falling flat. “Get to work. I don’t pay you to sit around. I don’t care if it is your Christmas break.”

We stayed where we were, each waiting on the other to back down. The tension was palpable. In the end, his face relaxed and he began to chuckle, stepping aside and making way for me. I picked up my bags and headed for my room, giving myself plenty of space to pass him without touching him. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I changed my mind and threw my bags on the second to last step, intending to pick them up later. I stretched my muscles, loving the feel of my back popping, and started for the kitchen.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” he asked, still standing in the foyer, watching my every move.

“If I don’t say hi to Mom and Bridge, they’ll think something’s up,” I told him and continued on.

He didn’t respond, but I felt his stare burning into the back of my head.

Review
This was definitely not an easy read. I seem to be on a roll with some intensely emotional reads recently! This one continued that trend, without a doubt.

I spent most of this book holding my breath and waiting for the other foot to drop. I knew something major was going to happen and I knew it from the beginning. I just wasn’t sure what. I also did not expect many of the twists.

While the characters are in high school, they both – especially Maddie – have been through more than many adults. So, they were pretty mature in the way they communicated with each other. At times I would get frustrated with how shortsighted they were or how blind they were to certain issues, but then I’d remember that they WERE young. And regardless of circumstances, many times high schoolers still act their age at times.

I really enjoyed this story, though it feels strange to say that due to all that happened. The writing flowed without effort and made it pretty easy to read. I can’t wait to read more from this new author!
