He thought I owned him. He thought he loved me, that I was enough. But this animal, this sex god who could drive me crazy and steal my heart in the same breath, he would never be fully mine. It was impossible. No one ever owns a God.
***REVIEW***
I couldn't wait to start this last book of the Innocence trilogy. I didn't read anything for almost two weeks, anticipating its arrival to my e-reader. I was dying!!! I LOVE Brad De Luca and I adore Julia, but I had a very melancholy feeling while reading this. In the first half, Brad felt a little soft to me. Sorry for that choice of words, we know that Brad is anything but soft, he is a sex god (Julia's words). He just didn't radiate that dominance and confidence that I loved. My mood definitely changed to excitement and gut wrenching nerves as we moved on in the book. I loved the story, I loved the threesomes and kinky sex and I loved the ending! Alessandra, you are THE erotica godess right now! Anyone that hasn't read any of her fabulous books is missing out, but this series is right up there with the best of them!
End of The Innocence had a different setting and feel than the other two books. It moved much faster and brought in different characters like Brad and Julia's family. I enjoyed the parts with Julia's parents, they were very down to earth and I could tell that Julia is a Daddy's girl! The meetings with Brad's family were intense and I couldn't believe Julia's strength and confidence when she met them. The stories his father revealed were sad and made me love and respect Brad that much more! I was expecting more from the Alexis story line. I don't believe that she would have walked off so easily. I'm still kind of waiting for more on her...
The sex in this book is OFF THE CHARTS hot! You get just Brad and Julia in some scenes and then you get Brad, Julia and a plus one in several others. Page after page of "hard. fast. DeLuca-style" and I loved every second. No one can write an erotic sex scene like Alessandra Torre.
She is also a master in the suspense world. We knew what was coming and I was waiting for it every few chapters. She kept us thinking, here it is, it's coming, this is who did it. I found myself second guessing my original hypotheses and being very suspicious of a few people. In the end, I was chewing on my nails and gritting my teeth I was so nervous. The timing for this "twist" and drama was not lost on me. It was devastating but in the end gave Julia and Brad what they really wanted. I can't say much more because I will not spoil the intensity and surprise here.
I loved the Epilogue and the bonus scene was AMAZING! Genius and unique ending that I never expected! All in all, I'm so sad to be done with Brad and Julia. As I'm finishing this review, that must be the reason that I wasn't blown away with this one. Alessandra always knocks my socks off with any of her books and this one was very well done. Julia grew to be everything and more than she wanted to be. By the end of this book, I was so proud of her and secretly wanted her life! A girl can dream, right? Brad DeLuca is at the tippy top of favorite book boyfriends. We all need just a little piece of his dominance, love and pampering in our lives! Might have to give these books to the hubs next ;)
"I love so few people in my life. I need only one. Her."
