Twenty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered
all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadliest sins were the
downfall of our society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded
according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve
been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.
Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.
Now, every day is a fight for
survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

Review
So it is time to switch gears a bit. Typically we
read various types of romance around here. Whether it be YA, NA, Contemporary,
or Erotica… it’s still romance. And this one does have romance, but that isn’t
the focus. This one was a Dystopian. It’s my best kept secret: I love a good
dystopian story.
Right from the beginning, the story sucked me in. I
needed to know what was going to happen. I wanted to know all of the details.
Abi and Missy did NOT disappoint in creating a picture in my mind about what
life was like for Lexi in the hole. On top of that, it had so much potential to
be predictable, but it wasn’t… at all.
There were various things throughout this story that
I would attempt to guess, and I’m usually pretty good at nailing my guesses,
that I was DEAD. WRONG. about at the end. I’m so glad! I never could’ve guessed
many of the things that were going to happen in this story!
Lexi is such a strong girl. They did a beautiful job
at painting her just right. She was strong, yet broken. Humble, yet confident.
She was beautiful, but unaware. Lexi grew throughout the story and it was very
interesting to see this character develop. Never did I second-guess that girl’s
strength, but in the end she made choices I never would’ve been strong enough
to make.
Cole. Oh my. I think I love him. He was moody and
beautiful and amazing. He had his gentle giant Great Dane, Zeus, who was dumb
as a rock, but protected Lexi fiercely. Don’t get me wrong, Cole also protected
Lexi as if his life depended on it. There were times I wanted to punch him in
the jaw, but mostly I just loved his strength and his devotion. Another
fabulous job on character development on this guy!
Overall – the story grabbed me, kept me captivated,
and left me NEEDING more. There isn’t a cliffhanger ending, but the story isn’t done either. I cannot WAIT to read more in
this series.

About the Authors
Abi
and Missy met in the summer of 1999 at college orientation and have been best
friends ever since. After college, they added jobs, husbands and kids to their
lives, but they still found time for their friendship. Instead of hanging out
on weekends, they went to dinner once a month and reviewed books. What started
out as an enjoyable hobby has now become an incredible adventure.
