Release: Bite & Release by Cory Cyr

Synopsis

Ryan Chase left Fairbanks, Alaska, when she was 21 years old to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Somewhere along the way her dreams of stardom crashed and burned, along with her life.

Thirteen years later she is forced to return to Fairbanks because her unforgiving and emotionally-distant father has suddenly died. Ryan seizes the opportunity to not only escape her abusive husband but to be able to attend her best friend's wedding. What could go wrong? It's only Fairbanks, Alaska... While wishing she was anywhere but her father's funeral and wake, Ryan is struck senseless by a stunning, drop-dead gorgeous man. Her thoughts turn carnal and she desperately wants to know him in every way—and position—possible. There's only one problem...

He's the devil's spawn. He's the one who marked her for life. He's the kid she used to baby-sit. And he's hotter than hell!

Shea Michaels has loved Ryan Chase for most of his life. After surviving an unspeakable childhood, he became a man of whom she could be proud of...if she ever came back. Now that she's returned, Shea pursues her with a vengeance, undaunted by the thirteen year age difference that Ryan uses as the shield between them.

Confusion, guilt and lust bombard Ryan as she battles the memories of the little boy she used to know while still being drawn to the heart-stopping man he has become.

I began writing music and poetry at an early age. My love of music became my sole focus and I spent quite a few years as the lead singer for many local rock bands. In high school I was fascinated with the macabre and started writing science fiction and horror stories so dark they earned me the nickname "Gory Cory." After years of writing dark tales, I never thought in a million years my first two finished manuscripts would be Adult Romance. Bite & Release will be the first book published sometime in late May/early June and Reviving Haven; my second book will be released at the end of July. The themes of both books are older women/younger men and are for 18+ due to language, sexual situations and subject matter. Both are stand alone with no cliffhanger.

Review Tour: Review & Giveaway: Changing Tunes by Heather Gunter

Ashley Davis is over her high school 'bitch' label and has decided to reinvent herself. College offers a new beginning, a chance to be different. After being assaulted, she's realized that she needs to change and college is just the place to do it. Nobody knows the Ashley she used to be and she'd like to keep it that way.

Afraid of falling into the same patterns she decides that having no friends, no life and focusing on school is the way to go, but she didn’t bank on someone like Mac as her roommate or the tall, dark and completely geek hot in his glasses, Zeke Whitman.

Ezekiel (Zeke) Whitman is driven and focused when it comes to school. When he's forced to partner with a tall, leggy blonde with a slight attitude, he's thrown for a loop. With so much at stake, Zeke can’t afford distractions and Ashley is certainly that. From their first encounter Zeke sees more than just another gorgeous girl.

As Ashley grapples with leaving the ‘old’ her behind, she realizes that sometimes changing tunes isn't as easy as it sounds. Sometimes you have to keep a little of the person that you were, in order to become the person that you want to be.

Review

I love Heather Gunter. I do. I love her and I love her stories. I think each story she has written has been better than the last. This was no exception. Except it did take her to a whole new level. While I have enjoyed all of her work, this was my favorite. She showed a lot of growth and a lot of change in this story both in the characters and in her writing style. Color me impressed!

I was immediately drawn to Zeke. There was something about him that right away drew me in. Then as I learned more about him, I was more drawn to him. I fell in love with his devotion to Ashley as well as his devotion to his family. I enjoyed watching his success despite his circumstances. A lot of times we see the negative side of his situation, but his family was supportive and pushed him to be successful in all areas. And the way he loved Ashley despite her faults was inspiring.

And Ashley. I really didn’t like her in the other books. She was just not a nice person. But this one changed. What happened at the end of the last story really changed Ashley for the better. I really enjoyed getting to know her better and understanding her. Her dad. I wanted to murder him. What an awful, awful man. But out of that awful man came a girl who grew in to a beautiful person both inside and out. I found that throughout the story, I fell in love with Ashley and her spirit.

I cannot wait to read more about these characters!

RELEASE BLITZ: Begin Again by Evan Grace

Synopsis

Two years ago Journey Cummings spent two of the best weeks of her life with the man of her dreams, until he left her without even a goodbye.

Journey has spent the last two years trying to find the man that left her high and dry after two blissful weeks together, but he seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. With no hope in finding the father of her son she tried to just move on, until a chance encounter changes everything.

Dylan Carmichael knew he messed up when he lied and walked away from Journey two years ago, but it was over and there was nothing he could do about it now. That is until she walked into his brother's reception on the arm of another and drops the biggest bombshell, he has a son.

Can Dylan prove to Journey that he won't walk away again and can she trust him with her heart and their son? When tragedy strikes can Dylan be man enough to keep their new little family together before it falls apart?

He left without saying goodbye

. Journey kept thinking that over and over as she walked out into the humid afternoon Florida air. She and Dylan were supposed to have lunch before he had to get to the airport. Did she miss the signs? Had he been trying to give her the brush-off and she didn’t notice? The tears in her eyes were starting to blur her vision, but she wasn’t going to break down on the sidewalk. No, she was going to wait until she reached the privacy of her car. Wrenching open the door, she climbed inside, immediately starting it so the air conditioning would start cooling her overheated skin.

The pain in her chest started to build. As soon as the door closed beside her the tears fell in earnest as sobs wracked her body. How could she be so stupid? She knew he had a problem with their age difference, but she thought they’d gotten past that. Maybe all she was to him was an easy lay, because let’s face it, she didn’t play hard to get at all. Sure she didn’t sleep with him that first night, but they

did sleep in the same bed together. That had been the best night in her entire life. They talked and talked in the dark, holding hands while they lay facing each other.

Journey tried to tell herself not to fall in love with him, but every second she spent with him she fell further and further. The way he seemed to worship her body was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before. After last night she was sure he felt the same way about her, but it was obvious he didn’t if he could leave her so easily without even a goodbye.

Wiping her eyes, she blew out a breath and started to head towards Cabana’s, the restaurant where she worked. She wasn’t going to stick around here any longer. It was time to head home to Alabama and check on her brother, Cash. He may be older than her, but he was so messed up that Journey felt she needed to keep a close eye on him. Of course he’d come to her for money, harassing her until she gave in. Hell, he was part of the reason she left Alabama in the first place.

She pulled into the parking lot, checking herself in the rearview mirror. Her eyes were rimmed in red and puffy. Normally she’d care what they thought, but she was leaving, so it really didn’t matter. Taking a deep breath, she climbed out of her car, heading for the doors so she could quit and get the fuck out of there.

Blog Tour: Review, Teaser, Giveaway: Fragile Bonds by Sloan Johnson

"Without trust, we have nothing."

These are the words which have haunted Melanie Erickson for six years. When she walked out of the house Xavier Ross bought as their forever home, she thought she was closing that door permanently, but fate had other plans.

Xavier Ross tried to keep everyone at a distance until Melanie came into his life. The more he tried to fight his feelings for her, the more he fell in love. One rash decision fractured the trust that was essential to their relationship.

Six years later, she is the last person he expects to see walk through his front door. Will Xavier and Mel be able to learn to trust one another again so they can fulfill a dying woman’s wish?

Review

Emotional. Raw. Conflicting. Heartbreaking. And everything else. This story had me crying both happy tears as well as sad tears. But the sad tears weren’t just sad, they were heart wrenching, ugly cry tears. I fear my review cannot do this story justice. A story about love lost, loss, repair, and love found. Death. Children. Cancer. But there is romance, and change, and a whole lot of sweetness.

I can’t imagine watching your wife die would ever be an easy task. Then the one person who opened you up to love and also the person who shattered your hear walks through your door to take care of your dying wife, I really cannot imagine the emotions that Xavier was feeling. He was a man who was composed, strong, and in control of himself and his life. Yet this entire situation was out of control. As he handled Alyssa’s illness and death, he also now had to now understand her wish for after she passed.

Melanie. For Xavier, it was a shock for her to show up at the house that he bought for her, but for Melanie, she was able to prepare herself. She was able to get ready to face her past head on. What she wasn’t prepared for was becoming instant friends with the woman she was taking care of. The woman living in the house she was supposed to be living in with the man she was supposed to be with. Let alone falling in love with the little boy living in that house. So while she was able to do her job professionally, she had to also address the feelings beyond what was typical of her job. Then there were the wishes Alyssa expressed to her verbally and in written form. How do you reconcile all of those feelings?

Ms Johnson took us on quite the emotional ride with this one. My chest literally ached through a lot of this book. The emotions were so strong. I felt as if I was losing a part of me as I watched Alyssa’s illness take over. I felt conflicted about cheering for Xavier and Melanie as their love appeared to never have gone away. My heart broke for the little boy who was losing his mom. The story concludes and there is no cliffhanger. This is a beautiful story, but make sure you have plenty of tissues on hand!

BLOG TOUR: Review & Excerpt: Before You by Lisa Cardiff

Aubrey Keaton has never had a supportive family. Luckily, she has Camden…

Her childhood friend. Her savior. Her boyfriend.

Even after Camden leaves their hometown to chase his dream to be a musician, Aubrey can’t imagine her life without Camden and his family.

Before starting a job search for her own dream job, Aubrey decides to visit Camden in California for a month. But when she arrives, something unexpected happens…she meets Jax Carmichael, the lead singer in Camden’s band.

Jax Carmichael doesn’t have time for a relationship…much less love.

Even if Aubrey is irresistible, she’s a complication he doesn’t want or need. He has spent the last few years building Chasing Ruin, and the band is on the verge of being signed. Pursuing Aubrey could destroy his band, and he’s worked too hard to be successful without his family’s money, or connections, to let that happen.

Aubrey feels an attraction to Jax like something she’s never experienced before.

Confused, she tries to resist, but when her relationship with Cam begins to unravel, she realizes that Jax might just be the one thing she needs.

Review

Love triangle, music, haunted past, childhood friends, new friends, drama… all things that lead to a remarkable story. All things that are on the pages of Before You. This book was captivating right from the start. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I loved Jax right from the beginning and Bre, as well. While I wanted her to wake up sometimes when it came to Cam, I got her attachment to him. He was a source of stability in her relatively unstable life growing up. But man, Cam… don’t get me started on him. He really had to grow on me, that is for sure! But hey, what kind of story would it be if I loved everyone and nobody got under my skin?

The writing was excellent! Ms Cardiff really did a phenomenal job with this story! The story was executed perfectly and made you feel as if you were a part of these character’s lives. I cannot wait to read more from Ms Cardiff!

Excerpt
Jax either started pulling her toward him or she started leaning toward him, she wasn’t sure which. The way his thumb delicately stroked her wrist scattered her alcohol-soaked wits, and it took her a few seconds to remember to breathe. Bre stared at his mouth; completely fascinated by the sensual curve of his lips and she just barely resisted the urge to wet her own lips in anticipation.

With his mouth only inches from hers, he whispered, “You can’t look at me like that, Bre. I’m trying to be good. I know you’re Cam’s girl and the band’s important to me, but there’s only so much I can resist, and when you look at me like that I want to ignore all the reasons why kissing you is a really bad idea.”

Unable to speak, she closed her eyes, trying to regain her senses, but it was hard when she could feel his heated gaze and his warm bourbon breath tickling her face. She knew the rational thing to do was push him away, but she didn’t want to. His lips brushed hers, moving slowly, causing a tingling sensation that she suspected wasn’t a figment of her imagination. “Hmmm...” she murmured, draping her arms carelessly over his shoulders, breathing in the smell of him, wanting to be closer to him, wanting more of him, wanting to forget everything but him.

As he wrapped his arms around her waist, his tongue caressed hers once, then twice, and then his fingers began tracing the skin on her thigh just below her hemline at an indecently slow pace. Just as he started lowering her to the floor, inching his body between her legs, she heard laughter outside the still open door. Bre’s eyes popped open.

“Jax always hides out in his room when he gets in his moods.” Bre froze, recognizing Katie’s shrill voice.

“Maybe he knows where Bre is. I haven’t seen her for over three hours.”

“Probably not, you know how Jax is with his personal space.”

Bre’s eyes blinked in confusion. Then, suddenly she scrambled backwards and onto her feet, nearly tripping over the almost empty bottle of bourbon.

“It’s Cam,” she mouthed to Jax, bracing her hands on the footboard of his bed, completely shaken, but oddly disappointed by the loss of contact with him.
